SEAS 2024: At the Academy

The performance At the Academy, a production by the "Mihai Eminescu" Theater in Botoșani, will be staged on July 25, 2024, at 9:00 PM, at Grădina Tomis, as part of SEAS 2024.

""AT THE ACADEMY" is my first approach to what is called ‘popular theater,’ a tribute to the Romanian rural environment, to which I belong and from which I draw inspiration. I left all my pores open to the pain of those who scream behind great laughter, behind grimaces expressed through playfulness and grotesque. Hunched, drained of strength, weighed down by work, abandonment, and old age, they manage to smooth their brows, organizing their own joys, imagining freedoms, and grabbing their destiny by the throat. They are strong, proud, and beautiful. They are free. Our performance can be perceived as a pastoral, bucolic, rustic, or rural comedy... In short, about peasants. But it can also, at the same time, be reversed into an ongoing tragedy, toward an imminent cataclysm."
