SEAS 2024: A Moldovan Rehearsal

The play A Moldovan Rehearsal, a production of the "Fani Tardini" Dramatic Theatre from Galați, will be performed on August 2, 2024, at 9:00 PM at Teatrul de Vară Soveja, as part of SEAS 2024.

"We're telling the story of some heroes. They were the people who created the first Romanian theatre troupe in Iași and rehearsed in very poor conditions—both financially and spatially. They had very little time, yet they managed to establish this Romanian theatre troupe and gather an audience for performances in the Romanian language. At the time, a lot of plays were performed in French. The public preferred French or German performances. It’s also a kind of tribute to these people. And the play somehow presents the frustration of Caragiale regarding the context in which he worked, showing in a very comic way how they struggled to complete a performance." — Cristian Ban
