CONSTANTA STATE THEATRE ON TOUR IN BUCHAREST
10-11-2021

From November 12 to 14, the Constanța State Theatre will be on tour in the capital, with two performances: "Jocuri în curtea din spate" and "Doi tineri din Verona."

The Constanța State Theatre's tour in Bucharest begins on Friday, November 12, with two performances of "JOCURI ÎN CURTEA DIN SPATE" at the Jewish State Theatre, at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

The play, directed by DIANA MITITELU, who won this year's UNITER Award for Debut, is based on a play by Israeli writer Edna Mazya, which tells the true story of a trial involving the perpetrators of a rape case of a 14-year-old girl in a rural community in northern Israel. The media coverage of the trial encouraged other women to come forward and report various forms of hidden abuse.

Cast: Cristiana Luca/ Ecaterina Lupu, Andrei Bibire, Theodor Șoptelea, Cătălin Bucur, Ștefan Mihai.

On Sunday, November 14, at 6:00 PM, at the Odeon Theatre in Bucharest, the Constanța State Theatre will present "DOI TINERI DIN VERONA" by William Shakespeare, directed by ALEXANDRU MÂZGĂREANU, a performance held under the National Theatre Festival (FNT) 2021, edition 31. It has been 14 years since the Constanța State Theatre last participated in the FNT, Romania's most prestigious theatre event.

This year's festival theme is CREATION. RECREATION. RE-CREATION, aiming to capture artists' responses to new creation conditions in the context of the pandemic. The Constanța State Theatre's performance was selected for the CLASSIC. RECREATED section.

"Doi tineri din Verona" is a story about love, friendship, and forgiveness, with the Shakespearean action moved by the director to the Far East. Since the characters in the play leave Verona for Milan "to perfect their education in another culture," Alexandru Mâzgăreanu felt that, in today's world where the distance between Verona and Milan no longer means anything, this phrase no longer makes sense. Thus, he decided to make the scenic transition from Western to Eastern civilization.

It is a performance with a large cast, featuring actors of all ages from the Constanța State Theatre. The set was designed by Andreea Săndulescu, the costumes by Alexandra Mâzgăreanu, music by Alexandru Suciu, choreography by Baczó Tünde, and Daniel Klinger handled the lighting design.

Scheduled for November 14, which is Dobrogea Day, the Constanța State Theatre’s performance represents an opportunity to showcase Dobrogean culture in the country’s capital.

We thank you for your support and hope to have the privilege of performing again in front of our Constanța audience soon, once an adequate space for our activities is found, as the building on Ferdinand Boulevard is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
