Constanța State Theatre, participation in the INTERFERENCE International Theater Festival in Cluj and tour in Miercurea-Ciuc

Two weeks ago, Constanța State Theater participated, with two performances, in one of the most important international theater festivals in Europe: INTERFERENCES, organised by the Hungarian State Theater in Cluj, recognized as one of the best theaters in Romania.

The play "JOCURI ÎN CURTEA DIN SPATE" by Edna Mazya, directed by Diana Mititelu, for which the director of TSC won the UNITER Award for Debut, had two performances at INTERFERENȚE in Cluj-Napoca on November 25, at 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM. The leading roles were alternately played by Cristiana Luca and Ecaterina Lupu, accompanied by Ștefan Mihai, Andrei Bibire, Theodor Șoptelea, and Cătălin Bucur.

"PROMETEU '22," directed by Gábor Tompa, an international co-production between the Hungarian State Theatre of Cluj-Napoca, the Constanța State Theatre, and the National Drama Theatre of Ljubljana, was performed on the festival stage on November 26. The cast includes Constanța State Theatre actors Mirela Pană, Florin Aioane, Ecaterina Lupu, Cătălina Mihai, and Dana Dumitrescu, with the assistant director being Erwin Șimșensohn, the TSC director. The show premiered in Cluj-Napoca and Ljubljana, with the Constanța premiere scheduled for January 26 and 27, 2023.

Before reaching Cluj-Napoca, the Constanța State Theatre team stopped in Miercurea-Ciuc, where on November 23, the play "JOCURI ÎN CURTEA DIN SPATE" was performed as part of the "Luceafărul" program at the Csíki Játékszín Hungarian Municipal Theatre. Every year, this program invites Romanian-language plays dedicated to the Romanian audience in Miercurea-Ciuc. The performance was attended by a class of students from "Marin Preda" High School in Odorheiu-Secuiesc, many of them attending the theatre for the first time. It was an intense experience, which they later described in beautiful words, and they made sure to take photos with the actors they had applauded on stage.

Also part of the "Luceafărul" program was the play "MARIA TĂNASE. O POVESTE," written and directed by Carmen Lidia Vidu, which was presented at the same theatre upon returning from Cluj-Napoca on November 27. TSC actress Mirela Pană and pianist George Călin were met with great success from the Miercurea-Ciuc audience, being called back to the stage multiple times for encore applause.

This tour marks the end of the festival circuit for the Constanța State Theatre, which was selected for no less than twelve national and international festivals across the country, in addition to other performances both at home and abroad.
