09-06-2025

The 2024–2025 theatre season has concluded at the Constanța State Theatre, marking the beginning of a period of festival participation, with several productions from the TSC repertoire on tour.

The first tour took place in Suceava, where the Constanța theatre was invited to take part in the "Matei Vișniec" Theatre Days Festival with the production Incendies by Wajdi Mouawad, directed by Alexandru Mâzgăreanu. The performance, held on June 5, was very well received by the audience, earning three minutes of uninterrupted applause and multiple curtain calls.

The next tour stops for the Constanța State Theatre are in Reșița and Sibiu. On June 24, the show An Island by Ada Milea, inspired by Gellu Naum, will be performed as part of the New Wave International Theatre Festival organized by the West Theatre of Reșița.

Just a few days later, on June 27, within the framework of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival – FITS 2025, one of the most prestigious festivals in Europe, the production The House of Bernarda Alba by Federico García Lorca, directed by Diana Mititelu, will be staged at the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre in Sibiu. This production received no fewer than four UNITER award nominations this year. It is worth noting that for the past five years, the Constanța State Theatre has been invited to every edition of FITS with various productions from its repertoire.

In July, SEAS 2025 – The Summer Season of Performing Arts begins, with this year's edition promising to be exceptional, featuring numerous performances in multiple venues across Constanța. This is the most extensive cultural event in Romania, running from early July through September. The full program will soon be available on the official website, SEAS.RO, and updates can be found on the season’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Among the shows featured in SEAS 2025 are several productions from the TSC repertoire: Seaside Stories, The House of Bernarda Alba, Incendies, Teatro Lúcido at the Edge of Infinity, and An Island. Tickets can be purchased at mystage.ro and bilet.ro.

In late July, the Constanța State Theatre will also take part in ȘI Festival 2 Mai – ȘI teatru. ȘI film. ȘI autentic. (AND Theatre. AND Film. AND Authentic), the only rural festival in Romania, an active platform promoting debut artists in film and performing arts. The theatre will present Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, directed by Andrei Șerban (July 21), and An Island by Ada Milea (July 22).

Next comes the HOP Gala – the Gala of Young Actors, which will be held this year in Constanța at the end of August, under the artistic direction of Erwin Șimșensohn, general director of TSC.

In September, TSC has been invited to the Brăila International Theatre and Performing Arts Festival with An Island (September 21). Also in September, the tenth edition of the Reunion of Romanian National Theatres will take place in Chișinău, where TSC will perform The House of Bernarda Alba. In mid-October, the National Theatre Festival begins, and while awaiting the official selection, TSC hopes to participate again this year.

The 2025–2026 theatre season kicks off in October, and the Constanța State Theatre will open it with two premieres, staged in the two venues where it will operate starting this year: the Studio Hall at 2A Ion Lahovari Street and the main hall at 11 Ferdinand Boulevard.
