CONSTANȚA STATE THEATRE ON TOUR IN BUCHAREST
This upcoming weekend, the Constanța State Theater (TSC) has scheduled a tour in the capital. Thanks to the generosity and solidarity of colleagues from the "L.S. Bulandra" Municipal Theater, TSC, which currently lacks a performance venue in Constanța, will be able to present two shows to the Bucharest audience: "Maria Tănase. A Story" on Friday, February 11, at 7:00 PM, and "8 Fathers" on Sunday, February 13, at 7:00 PM.
"Maria Tănase. A Story", directed and written by Carmen Lidia Vidu, is a performance that portrays a version of the life of the famous singer, shedding light on lesser-known aspects of her personality. Authentic documents, archival letters, fragments of interviews, her thoughts and memories, and analogies with Edith Piaf or Frida Kahlo all come together to form a coherent image of a stunning and strong woman. Actress and singer Mirela Pană plays the role of Maria Tănase, accompanied by pianist Elena Gatcin. Multimedia design is by Cristina Baciu, and set design by Lăcrămioara Dumitrașcu.
The show has toured in Chișinău and Bucharest, and actress Mirela Pană won the "Bacău Fest Monodrame" 2021 Trophy for her portrayal of Maria Tănase.
"8 Fathers" by Tina Müller, translated by Ciprian Marinescu and directed by Irisz Kovacs, is a playful and humorous exploration of adolescence and its traumas. It tells a story about the painful loneliness of growing up, what family means, and the inheritance of trauma from our parents.
This is the debut show of director Irisz Kovacs, with set design by Theodor Niculae, a student at UNATC "I.L. Caragiale." The cast includes Ecaterina Lupu, Cristiana Luca, Theodor Șoptelea, Andrei Bibire, and Florin Aioane.
"8 Fathers" was selected to participate in the 2021 Debut Festival – Competition, where Irisz Kovacs won the award for directorial debut in the "Collective Creation" category.
