Graduate of UNATC “I. L. Caragiale” in Bucharest, where he completed both his Bachelor’s studies in Acting and two Master’s programs, Acting and Theatre Pedagogy, Aurelian Culea is part of a new generation of actors committed to rigor, stage versatility, and teamwork. His artistic work spans a wide range, from Shakespeare, Caragiale, and Schiller to contemporary playwriting, devised theatre, improvisation, and Commedia dell’Arte. He has collaborated with directors such as Alexander Hausvater, Michele Modesto Casarin, Sandu Grecu, Lia Bugnar, Arcadie Rusu, Florin Liță, and Diana Mititelu, and he has brought to life an array of characters: Hamlet, Lucentio, Cliff from Look Back in Anger, Elliot from Mercury Fur, or Puss in Boots. Alongside his theatre activity, he has been involved in film and television productions, collaborating with directors Anghel Damian, Theo Thorn, and Dominic Dembinski. His training includes numerous workshops in stage movement, improvisation, and physical development, coordinated by Andrea Gavriliu, Ioana Marchidan, and Bogdan Untilă, experiences that strengthened his physical expressiveness and openness to contemporary theatrical forms. In 2025, in Constanța, he received the Grand Prize of the HOP Gala - the “Ștefan Iordache” Award, one of the most important distinctions dedicated to young actors in Romania. Since 2026, Aurelian Culea has been part of the team at the Constanța State Theatre.
