Irisz Kovacs is a director and photographer, a graduate of the Faculty of Theatre and Film, UBB Cluj-Napoca. She is interested in playfulness, the manipulation of conventions, and the power of scenic imagery, aiming to reveal the tragicomic side of any subject. She has collaborated with theatres such as Reactor for Creation and Experiment, the Jewish State Theatre, Gong Theatre Sibiu, and the Constanța State Theatre. Her productions have been performed at festivals such as the Sunlight Theatre Festival in Timișoara, the Studio Festival in Târgu-Mureș, the Theatre of the Common Space in Cluj-Napoca, the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, and Fest FDR. Irisz Kovacs was nominated for the 2022 UNITER Awards for her production of "8 Tați" by Tina Müller, in the DEBUT category. The play "8 Tați" by Tina Müller, directed by Irisz Kovacs, was selected in 2022 for the National Theatre Festival (FNT) in the category Fluid Histories: Micro-histories. Broken Families.
